When Greg was 25 years old, he met Pete Fountain and fell in love with his clarinet sound and style. The same year, Greg met Sidney Forrest (former National Symphony clarinetist and professor at The Catholic University of America) and began studying clarinet with him for over 17 years. Greg is the leader of the Greg Harrison clarinet sound has performed in the DC metro area for decades, including two performances at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and for 12 years at Mon Ami Restaurant in Bethesda. He has recorded three compact discs of jazz standards. Greg and Pete Fountain developed a friendship over the years, and Greg made reeds and mouthpieces which Pete used in performances during his storied career. Greg has performed with Pete Fountain on stage in New Orleans at the Pete Fountain Jazz Club and at the Casino Magic showroom in Mississippi on numerous occasions.
