The Chris Brooks Jazz Trio is a fantastic contemporary and classic jazz group fronted by multi-talented pianist, Chris Brooks. All band members hail from the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The band has spent the past decade and a half touring the world in various groups.
The Trio’s eloquent approach to playing, sophisticated harmonics sense, bluesy overtones, R&B flavor and keen sense of how to craft a song that stands the test of time have made them the go-to jazz act for many.
The Chris Brooks Jazz trio’s approach is simple, as band leader Chris Brooks notes, “We are following in the footsteps of those that laid the foundation of contemporary jazz music. The fusing of jazz and R&B is just what contemporary jazz is all about.”
Late night jazz sessions found the band playing alongside everyone from famous saxophonists and trumpeters to a wealth of talented guitarists. The free-spirited band soon found themselves taking a temporary leave of absence from the jazz scene, touring the world with rock band Lionize.
The band is highly influenced by some of the greats of recent jazz history, including George Duke, Stanley Clarke, Larry Carlton, Billy Cobham, and Gerald Albright.
With the up-coming release of the band’s first CD of Jazz Favorites, 2017 should prove to be a year that the Chris Brooks Jazz Trio further asserts themselves as one of the most thrilling and innovative pioneers on the contemporary jazz scene.
