Under the mentorship of Gustavo Dudamel and William Molina, he became a dedicated educator for the world-renowned El Sistema.
After moving to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship, Carlos studied at Shenandoah University and earned his Master’s degree from George Mason University. A decorated performer, he has won first prize in the Virginia Music Teachers Association and the Student Soloist Competition, performing masterworks by Elgar and Shostakovich.
A Versatile Stage Presence

His career is marked by collaborations with industry giants such as Yo-Yo Ma, Wynton Marsalis, and Alisa Weilerstein. Beyond the concert hall, he has performed for notable figures ranging from Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Mayor Muriel Bowser to artists like Rauw Alejandro and Gloria Trevi.
Genre-Defying Artistry
A true crossover artist, Carlos is proficient in classical, pop, rock, jazz, and house music. In 2025, he founded Carlos Cello LLC in Washington, D.C., where he serves as a cultural ambassador, performing at diverse events across the DMV and internationally in cities like Mexico City, New York, and Los Angeles.
Beyond the Music
When not performing, Carlos finds inspiration in the culinary and martial arts. A proficient pastry chef with five years of experience at Marriott Hotels, he also practices Tai Chi and Kung Fu. He views these disciplines as essential to his artistic philosophy: “Art has the power to connect us all, to bridge cultures and communities, and to show us the beauty and wonder in the world.”
