What should I expect?
We send two (or more, for larger events) dapper poets to your event, dressed to impress, with vintage typewriters and luxury cardstock to write improvised original poetry on-demand for your guests. They interact and create poetic ambience while also making custom takeaways for every guest, and on the back of each poem is a custom stamp with your company logo, social media information, insignia, date, or any other information that is important to you.
How many poems can you write per hour?
Each poem takes 60-120 seconds to create, so it’s great for high volume events.
Can you move throughout a party?
Absolutely. We keep our typewriters stationary, but can move around and interact with guests, and even take tableside haiku orders for seated events.
Can you do other poetry formats besides typewritten haiku?
We do haiku 90% of the time for interactive events, but we can also do sonnets, limericks, rhyming couplets, and free verse, should the occasion arrive. We also curate performances for the stage if you need that, including performed poetic commissions for special occasions or honorees.
What do I need to provide?
All we need is some sort of table and seating. We have done events where we’re in a mesh tent on pillows on the ground, at old fashioned desks in mahogany offices, at simple high top tables amongst your guests, in lounge areas on couches, or on stage in the spotlight.
What are the best types of parties for improv poetry?
It’s amazing how many different types of events we fit into. We do weddings, corporate holiday parties, small team building events, private birthdays and other celebrations, museum festivals, music festivals, public activations with brand partnerships… haiku really goes anywhere.
Can I request specific poets?
If you’d like a specific skill, style, gender, or artist, we’ll do everything we can to accommodate that request.
Can you write in other languages?
Yes! We can write and perform in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, Swedish, Chinese, and more (not every poet though!)
