HARPIST IRAIDA
Iraida is a concert harpist with a broad repertoire.
She has performed as a solosit and in ensembles in Europe and the US, including Stanislavsli Opera and Ballet Theatre (Moscow), Santa Barbara (California) Symphony, Santa Maria(California) Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Tulsa Opera.
She holds two Doctoral degrees in harp, from the Peabody and Moscow Conservatories. In Moscow she studied with the eminent harpist Olga Erdeli, a People’s Artist of Russia.
Dr. Poberezhnaya was a winner at the International Harp Competition (Baku, 1990) and a participant in the International Harp Contest in Israel (Jerusalem, 1995) and the USA International Harp Competition (Bloomington, 1995).
Her CD releases include The Music of Mary with Rudolph Lucente (vantage Records, 1998), Silvestre Revueltas with the Santa Barbara Symphony (Koch, 1999), and a solo albums, La Source (IIAM, 2010),and Isn’t It Romantic (IIAM, 2019)
Dr. Poberezhnaya has taught at the Azerbaijan Conservatory of Music, Baltimore Music School and Wilkes-Barre University. An active member of American Harp Society, she has served as a President of the Santa Barbara Harp Society and the Oklahoma City Harp Society, and directed the Santa Barbara Harp Festival (2000-02).
Her articles have been published in international harp magazines and journals. She was invited to play a recital at the 2008 International Harp Congress, in Amsterdam.
Iraida is often a guest artist at the Embassies Events. In 2012 she was awarded with a special certificate from the Arts and Science Centre, Russian Consulate, Washington DC as a recognition for building cultural brifges between two countries.
