What if you gave a party and nobody came?

When planning a party most of the work is focused on the party itself: the food, drinks, decorations and entertainment; but when it comes to inviting people, we often think that phoning or dropping by to say “come to my party next Tuesday” is all you need to do.

But in this age of multitasking, where job, family, and recreation is a full time, 24/7 commitment, a casual verbal invitation by phone or just “dropping by” might slip their mind. With all the distractions and responsibilities people deal with, you want your event to be the top priority; the last thing you want to hear is “Oh, sorry about last Saturday, I forgot all about it”.  So take a cue from advertising:  “If you promote it, they will come.”

While you’re planning the party, take the time to get some invitations made. Depending on the event, they can be formal engraved invitations, or, for less formal get-togethers, a colorful and amusing printed invitation that will catch the eye and also set the mood by saying “This is going to be fun, you don’t want to miss this!”

The internet has many ideas for invitations for all sorts of events and party themes that can be downloaded or used as ideas for you own invitation. You can print them out on your computer or have your own ideas printed at a stationary store or a party supply store for a small extra expense. Mail them out in a bright colored envelope that will stand out from the junk mail, bills and letters in the mail box.

You want your party to be a big event, and like all big events –“It Pays to Advertise!”
